US Navy Nuclear Submarine Shaped CPO Challenge Coin USS OHIO SSBN-726 / SSGN-726

This listing is for the challenge coin pictured, marked on the obverse with SILENT SERVICE and 726 on the sail, representing USS OHIO, originally SSBN-726 now after conversion SSGN-726, the lead boat of her class of nuclear-powered fleet ballistic missile submarines (SSBN). With her conversion to a guided (cruise) missile submarine she was re-designated SSGN-726. It is marked on the reverse with “Holy Jumping Jesus Christ” which is a line from the infamous submarine song, a stylized submarine qualification dolphins insignia using the Navy Chief’s fouled USN anchor, the “boomer pin” aka SSBN Deterrent Patrol qualification insignia, and the serial number 012.
