Checkout my store for coins, figures. Introducing the USN Chief NES Cartridge Zelda “Link to our past” Challenge coin! You are viewing a US Navy Zelda Challenge Coin! This particular coin is a Large Nintendo themed coin which features quite a bit of things – let’s start! The coin is the shape of the old Super Nintendo Entertainment System Game Cartridges. The accuracy is excellent – the center design is slightly raised from the surface of the coin , and the side “brick/square” groove lines are indented and you can feel each one individually. The rest of the coin features the protruding / recessing surface features similarly found on the old SNES cartridges, the top of the coin has a small indent raised up and is not flush with the surface (photo 8) – an excellent representation of the old cartridge shape. The front section, where the games’ graphic art would be, generally the Sword and Shield famous to Zelda (also slightly raised from surface of coin), is actually the Navy Anchor with USN lettering, all tucked neatly into a shield shape design. To the right is the game title area US NAVY CHIEF – The link to our past, paying homage to the fact that the USN has existed for a long time. Onto the rear, we see the section where there would generally be Nintendo. / warning/ legal information in a rectangle shape box. In this box are three USN navy anchor emblems , and to the right of them you see the exact shape a white oval Nintendo service employee pin would be(and exists), same colors too, but with the words “Official Navy Chief Seal”. On the bottom of that, we see the SNES red lettering logo , but instead it is written “Super Chief – United States Navy”. Finally the center lower portion has wording “LICENSED BY GOAT LOCKER” – an area that would sometimes feature NINTENDO branding on cartridges. Lastly, the top edge of the coin has in white lettering, SERVICE (photo 9). This coin weighs a non apologizing 6.6 ounces! Very heavy, pure metal body, just feels amazing. You can see some smudges / light cloudiness on the surface – polishing / cleaning might do the trick – I’ve never tried it nor guarantee it , just a suggestion. There are also a few dings on the front of the coin clearly visible in a few of the close up photos. The year the coin was produced is unknown to me, in my best guess , it is 2010 – 2015. This was issued by the US Navy to Servicemen and Women for various reasons – Some include, reaching milestones in career, completing a task, a sense of identity/symbol to belong to a group of friends. Smoke/Pet Free – I like questions and talking! Bubble envelopes and small boxes with ample protective packaging are used. If there is ever a problem with your order.
