Rank and organization: Lieutenant Commander Organization: U. Navy Born: 7 June 1874, Lincolnton, N. Accredited to: North Carolina Date of Issue: 12/04/1915. Johnston was awarded the Medal of Honor citation. For distinguished conduct in battle, engagement of Vera Cruz, 22 April 1914; was regimental adjutant, and eminent and conspicuous in his conduct. He exhibited courage and skill in leading his men through the action of the 22d and in the final occupation of the city.

These challenge coins were only removed from their original packaging for the pictures. They are in outstanding condition. They measure a large 2 in diameter each. The Thunderbirds coin celebrates the 69th anniversary of the team while the Blue Angel coin features the transition to the F/A-18 Super Hornet. They could show a light scratch or discolored spot from the factory, but not from use as they have remained in their plastic cover since new. I can’t see any obvious marks from production. Overall, great set of coins from the 2022 Airshow Air demonstration teams from the Air Force & Navy.
